she's a threadhead

A long time ago, before I moved into my new apartment, I was happy to finish the first half of this pillow for my friend Andrew. It’s been a work-in-progress for YEARS and I’m really glad that I now get to shove it back into the stashbin until I get around to starting the second half.

I still do not feel super comfortable with the misogynistic overtones of this piece, but it was a requested quote and I no longer have to bring it out in public – so there ya go!

  1. Melissa says:

OMG.. I used to have a roommate who would sing that song. Oddly enough, it just popped into my head the other day out of the blue.

Anyway, I am with you on the uncomfortable feeling of blatant misogyny in countless popular rap songs… although I do listen to them from time to time… as well as embroider them. I have a hoop I made last year hanging above my wine rack that I embroidered “Bitch don’t kill my vibe” on some vintage-inspired toile print cotton…

  2. Reading the comment above has clarified things for me – but to be honest, I don’t think I could put love into something that seems so negative – well done to you for sticking at it.
